Course Descriptions

101: Movement Skills

Our first course focuses on learning the basic movement skills at the heart of our method. In this course, you will master a core repertoire of Tai Chi movements. You'll learn how movements are connected to each other in Tai Chi with specific transitions to create combinations. Additional transitions then connect those combinations to form a complete routine.

Your first Flow routine is what Flow Conductors use to guide people into Flow. By the time you finish this course, you will be able to model this routine in a way that makes it easy for others to follow you.

150: Silent Signals

The Flow Method™ approach is a mostly silent approach. Conductors model the Flow movements, and participants follow and mimic them. In doing so, they set up they relax and align the body to make it ready for Flow to happen.

At the same time, we take care not to confuse or frustrate our followers. So in this course you will learn a system of Silent Signaling - pantomime - that will make it easy for others to follow you.

200: Cueing Skills

The Flow Method™ approach is a mostly silent approach. Conductors model the Flow movements, and participants follow and mimic them. In doing so, they set up they relax and align the body to make it ready for Flow to happen.

At the same time, we take care not to confuse or frustrate our followers. So in this course you will learn a system of Silent Signaling - pantomime - that will make it easy for others to follow you.

250: Observation Skills

300: Meditation Leader

About the Flow Method™ Academy

In the Flow Method™ Academy, the path to becoming a certified instructor is organized into a series of adventures - like following the path of the Hero’s Journey. There are different stages in the program and in each different stage the adventures center around a different specific goal. Specifically, the goal is acquire one of the Four Basic Skills of the Flow Method™ Conductor: Moving, Cueing, Observing and Aligning. (We also call these Flow Movement Skills, Flow Cueing Skills, Observation and Assessment Skills and Flow Safety & Alignment Skills.)

Although the program is academically rigorous, we believe in infusing it with joy and passion. The purpose of the Flow Method is to make the world a brighter, healthier and happier place. Most of our graduates go on to teach special groups, like Veterans or seniors. They learn to make a career out of making a difference.

The Flow Academy's uses a unique hybrid approach to delivering our courses, mixing both self-paced study and live interactive online sessions. You can customize your own program to meet your needs and lifestyle. Here are some of your program assets:

  • Online text and video, organized into "adventure" modules
  • One-on-one time with a mentor
  • Daily Flow sessions (live or on-demand) to practice your skills
  • Live group "Jam sessions" for peer-to-peer learning
  • Annual live online courses, taught by the Flow Academy faculty. Take these courses when they're offered, or watch the replays anytime.
